Why not visit the World Heritage Site of Hiraizumi’s Motsu-ji Temple to see the cherry blossoms?
The mild spring climate makes it perfect for walking through Motsu-ji’s gardens.
We’ll introduce the cherry blossom forecast, the time needed for a visit, and sightseeing access information.
Spring at Hiraizumi’s Motsu-ji

Designated as a Special Historic Site and Special Place of Scenic Beauty, Motsu-ji is a temple surrounded by expansive gardens.
The Pure Land garden centered on Oizumi-ga-ike Pond, along with the Heian-period temple hall remains, have been preserved in an almost complete state.
Cherry blossoms in spring, irises and lotus in early summer, and autumn foliage in fall — flowers bloom season by season, making it a place where you can feel nature and find peace while visiting the temple.
Motsu-ji’s Cherry Blossom Forecast — Typical Best Viewing Time and Latest Updates
The blossoms typically open in early to mid-April, reaching their best in late April,
though the spring 2023 cherry blossoms are predicted to bloom considerably earlier than usual.
We’ll update this blog as soon as more information comes in.
Cherry Blossom Forecast
★As of April 3, 2023★
The blossoms have gradually begun to open, and you can now enjoy some cherry blossoms.
Only a small portion has bloomed so far. The best viewing time is still to come.

By the way, BELLINO HOTEL’s cherry blossoms, said to be the earliest to bloom in Ichinoseki (perhaps!), reach full bloom as soon as April begins in recent years.
Cherry trees line up in front of the hotel, and they’re popular for wedding location photos too.
