Around September 20, 2021, the area near the summit has already reached peak autumn colors!
This is 3 to 5 days earlier than an average year, and more than a week earlier than last year.
The best viewing will gradually move down to lower elevations from here, and the area around Sukawa Kogen Onsen, which also serves as the trailhead, can be enjoyed until around mid-October.

The area near the summit is still at peak color!
In an average year, the lower-elevation area around Sukawa Kogen Onsen doesn’t reach peak color until October, but the leaves there are already starting to turn — though there’s still more to come.
There’s still plenty to enjoy, so please come and visit.
