Tategamori Ark Farm is an activity spot in Ichinoseki where you can fully enjoy nature experiences and the flavors of the farm.
You can interact with animals, take in spectacular natural scenery, and enjoy carefully selected ingredients!
This time, we visited Tategamori Ark Farm and spoke with Chairwoman and Farm Manager Shizu Hashimoto about her thoughts since founding the farm, and tips for enjoying it!
Ark Farm — A Nature Experience with a Stylish, Almost Foreign Atmosphere ♪
Ark Farm is about a 45-minute drive from the area around Ichinoseki Station.
Once you leave the town, the road passes through farmland and mountain paths.
Driving along a quiet mountain road with no one else around, we suddenly saw a vast ranch and a stylish-looking building come into view.
We had arrived at Tategamori Ark Farm!
At the center of the farm, where the buildings are clustered, you’ll find a restaurant, a farm market, a barbecue terrace, and more.

An open, airy restaurant with a full view of the farm. We could see sheep running around!

Next, we took a walk through “The Garden of Fragrant Winds.”
This English garden, made up of a lavender garden, rose garden, and herb garden, wraps you in wonderful fragrances as you stroll.
The garden is home to many kinds of flowers and herbs, each clearly labeled with its name.
“The Garden of Fragrant Winds” is a spot where a leisurely stroll can make you feel like you’ve traveled abroad, soothed by the fragrance, while also learning about the plants!

Tategamori Ark Farm’s Commitment to Food and Agriculture
We asked Chairwoman Shizu Hashimoto about the farm’s story since its founding.
Chairwoman Hashimoto came across as gentle, warm, and wonderfully refined. It felt as though Ark Farm’s gardens shared that same gentle atmosphere as the Chairwoman herself.
Founder Teruo Hashimoto and his wife, Chairwoman Shizu, once ran a farm in Saitama, but with an eye toward the future of agriculture, they moved to Fujisawa-cho, Ichinoseki City in their twenties and cleared the mountainside themselves.
Starting with pig farming, then eggs and ham, Tategamori Ark Farm has always pursued a commitment to food, expanding its agricultural business in multiple directions — and the thoughts behind its founding have been carried on ever since.
Those thoughts are…
1. To deliver a healthy diet through agriculture
2. To make agriculture an industry where many young people can work with dreams
3. To help maintain a green, rich global environment through agriculture
Chairwoman Hashimoto spoke about this in her own words.
“We want people to feel the reassurance of knowing the producer’s face.”
“We want young people to take an interest in agriculture, to think agriculture is cool, and to want to work in it.”
“We want people to understand that agriculture also means caring for the natural environment.”
If we keep the farm beautiful, many young people and consumers will come to visit. We want as many people as possible to experience the wonder of agriculture.
