With 250 varieties and 25,000 plants of hydrangea, visitors and enthusiasts come from all over the country to see it.
Not only hydrangeas — you can also enjoy rhododendrons and kalmia, allowing you to enjoy flowers over a long period starting in May!
Michinoku Hydrangea Garden in Ichinoseki! Hydrangeas Are Best from Late June
In a typical year, the hydrangeas are at their best from late June through late July.
Blooming status varies depending on the weather. The rhododendrons, which bloom in early May, seem to have bloomed a little earlier than usual this year.

By around July 3, most of the hydrangeas had bloomed and were ready to enjoy.
The best viewing period is expected about a week later, around July 10.
Starting around July 20, the “Hydrangea Pond,” where the pond’s surface becomes completely covered with hydrangea blossoms, begins.

The “Michinoku Hydrangea Garden” isn’t just about hydrangeas — you can enjoy flowers over a long stretch of time, starting from late April.
Walking around the entire garden takes about 1-2 hours.
A guided cart tour around the grounds is also available, taking about 20-30 minutes.
※Cart rides require a reservation and cost ¥700.
On the cart, the guide will tell you about the varieties of hydrangea, their history, and their rarity, so we recommend taking the cart first and then exploring on foot at your leisure afterward!

Parking Lot 1 holds about 40 cars, Parking Lot 2 holds about 150 cars
