This is the Honji district of Genbi-cho, in Ichinoseki, Iwate.
The Honji district lies at the foot of Mt. Kurikoma (Mt. Sukawa) and is a place rich in nature.

The “Honedera-mura Shoen Ruins” in the Honji district are one of the few remaining sites in all of Japan preserving a medieval rural landscape — a true glimpse of Japan’s original countryside.
